Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

There is free on-site parking at the Hope Centre, including three designated disabled bays. Our centre is easy to access and has an on-site lift. Our café provides an excellent meeting place, a safe space to play and serves food and drink.

You can find some information below about our sensory room, sensory stars sessions and Herefordshire’s Local Offer.

If you would like to find out more or have any questions, please get in touch with Mim Francis our Centre SEND Co-ordinator

Sensory room – Our on-site sensory room is available for public hire. The space provides a multisensory experience, promoting self-confidence, sensory exploration and imagination. You can use the equipment to create a quiet space where you can unwind, relax and regulate. Alternatively, there are plenty of resources to stimulate your sense of sight, sound, touch and smell.  Our space is designed for you and can be booked by individuals, small groups, carers or charities. Please phone reception on 01885 488495/7 for further details. There are also promotions running throughout the year, you can keep up to date with deals by visiting our Facebook page.

Sensory stars –  We run weekly sensory stars groups in our sensory room space. We currently have two sessions taking place with our morning session at 10:30-11:15am for 0-pre-walkers, then our afternoon session running 1:30-2:15pm for early walkers – 5 years. These sessions aim to offer a safe, welcoming space for children and their parent-carers to access the sensory room and take part in themed activities. Please note that places are limited and booking is essential. These sessions are free to attend but donations are welcome where possible. Please see our website, Facebook page or phone reception on 01885 488495/7 to find out more or to book.

Here is some feedback from our sensory stars sessions:

“These sessions have been amazing. Both have felt at ease almost straight away. They love experiencing the new toys and items. It’s a relaxing and calming area which helps the boys to try everything. Having a small group makes the experience even better”.

“My son loves getting amongst all the colourful and wonderful sensory activities. Always happy and excited to come!”

“We are loving the sessions you are providing. Each session is different and exciting for all who attend. She is happy and loves to attend, thank you so much”

We would love for you to join us for a session and hope to see you soon.

Support services SEND support: As part of our support services provision, we offer 1:1 or small group SEND sessions in our on-site sensory room or another location to suit the child. The sessions are flexible and can be based around the needs of the individuals attending, but will aim to offer a safe, welcoming space for children and their parent-carers. These sessions will be free but donations welcome, where possible. Please contact reception to find out more.

Local offer: Herefordshire Council’s local offer is a place for families to find out about the support, services and information available for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). On the Herefordshire Local Offer website you can: search for services from a range of local agencies including education, health and social care, view a range of SEND documents and reports, find out more about SEND reforms and keep up to date with the local offer as it develops and grows.

You can access the Herefordshire Local Offer by following this link: www.herefordshire.gov.uk/localoffer

The Hope Centre will always provide the highest quality support and service in all areas of our work where possible. We will offer an opportunity to provide feedback informally and formally throughout your involvement with our services to ensure we maintain high standards. If, however, you feel our service has not met your expectations and would like to make a complaint about the service you have received, you can find details on how to do this in our Complaints & Comments policy & procedure.
