The Sunshine Radio Toy Appeal is an amazing event run each year by our local radio station for the children of the local counties.
This is the first year that the Hope Centre has been involved as a donation point and as a recipient of the toys.
We have been amazed by the generosity of everyone who has donated to this great appeal.
We would like to thank Sunshine Radio and all of those who have donated toys and gifts, this WILL make a difference for our families/children and give them the gift of Christmas.
Thank you and we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Traditional Nativity at Longlands Care Farm
Today preschool travelled to Longlands farm near Whitbourne to take part in their traditional nativity. The children had a wonderful tour around the farm and met cows, sheep, pigs, chickens and a beautiful turkey.
The children also had the experience of safely walking over a cattle grid and sitting in a real tractor!
We’d also like to thank Bromyard Community Transport for taking us there and back who made the trip out possible.
And a big thank you to Julia and all her wonderful staff and volunteers at Longlands who made us feel very welcome and very festive.
Christmas Fayre Charity Fundraiser
On Thursday 29th November we held our annual Christmas Fayre. The staff team worked hard for weeks and weeks and we were so pleased it was such a success. Thank you to everyone who came – it was very wet and windy and so we were even more grateful to those who ventured out. Our fundraiser events are really important and help us raise funds that are used to support families and children who attend the centre. Thanks to the efforts of our staff, volunteers, stall holders and supporters we raised an amazing £1100!
There could be no fayre without stalls and this year we had a record 23 stalls – there was a lovely range of different products from original pottery and art pieces to cushions and some wonderful bunting and other gifts. It was amazing! The feedback from customers has been wonderful to hear.
We would also like to thank the Mayor and Mayoress of Bromyard for officially opening the fayre and local Councillor Alan Seldon for coming along. The community’s support for the Centre is so much appreciated.
Thank you to everyone who came along and to all those who supported the raffle. First prize winner of the Christmas hamper went to Dave Neville and the second prize winner was Ben Mulholland.
We look forward to seeing you next year!
Merry Christmas everyone!
Sunshine Radio’s Toy Appeal 2018
Can you help raise a smile for some of Herefordshire’s, Monmouthshire’s, Shropshire’s and Worcestershire’s most vulnerable and poorly children?
Last year people, generously donated thousands of toys for Sunshine Radio’s Christmas Toy Appeal.
This year we’d like to ask you to do the same again and we at the Hope Centre will be a donation point as well as receiving some of the toys donated in this year’s appeal.
We’re asking you to buy just one toy and drop it off at one of the many collection points situated across the counties. (For a list of more donation points please click here to see Sunshine Radio’s webpage)
You’ll help under-privileged children across the Sunshine area and we’re supporting a number of charities including The Hope Centre.
A few pointers when buying your gift:
- Please ensure that your gift is a brand new toy, complete with relevant European safety marks
- Any toy suitable for 0-18 years – No clothing please
- The present must not be wrapped.

No age limits on fun…
In the Hope Centre’s Early Years Department we have our own version of the TV show ‘Old peoples home for 4 year olds’ (except it’s more three year olds). This amazing project is a collaboration set up by Pam Guiver and Rachel Cross where the children of Early Years get to visit Whitegates Residential Home.
We would like to thank Pedro the Music-man for organising the musical instruments and music activities that the children and residents got to participate in together this visit.
This has been another enjoyable part of our project ‘Being part of community life’ for both the children and residents.
Long may it continue.
