And the nomination goes to…

April 18, 2019 By Aaron Willoughby

This year 3 staff received nominations for awards in the ISO QSL Good Egg awards

Anna Beddows in the Supporting Egg category –
Anna has been our ISO quality manager since we acquired accreditation and the standard. Her diligence in ensuring a consistency of standards across the charity is key in our professionalism and she makes sure everyone adheres to the high standards she has set.”

Netti Evans in the Quality Egg category –
“This year Netti has made massive improvements in the running of our community café… She works tirelessly and selflessly to get to know her customers and makes sure everyone gets fab service.”

Blaise White in the Green Egg category –
“This year Blaise has introduced several new schemes in the finance department.
He is determined to reduce our paper output by reducing the amount of paper systems and is working on migrating our customer invoice system to an electronic one.”

Congrats to all 3 for their nominations and to Blaise for winning the Green Egg Award.

World Book Day 2019

March 15, 2019 By Aaron Willoughby

Both staff and children joined in with the World Book Day celebrations and dressed up as their favourite story character. Our Ladybird and Caterpillar room shared their favourite stories throughout the day and Preschool had the pleasure of sharing a story with Maggie our Early Years volunteer, who kindly visits every week.

Every child took home a World Book Day token, which will allow them to go and purchase a new book at home.

Spring Term Newsletter

February 15, 2019 By Aaron Willoughby

Welcome to the Spring Term 2019.
We have a number of forthcoming events taking place and wanted to share these with you.

World Book Day:
World Book Day will be taking place on Wednesday 6th March. As always, we will be encouraging children (and staff!) to dress up as their favourite book character and to make a £1 donation please. Oscar’s café will also have an offer to receive a free hot drink when you purchase a child’s lunchbox.

Healthy eating displays:
We are currently promoting healthy eating across the centre including in Early Years, please take the time to have a look at our display outside the classrooms. We are focusing on making the right choices of healthy foods, the importance of exercise, dentistry and looking after our teeth and baby weaning.

Preschool’s visits to Whitegates:
Our visits to Whitegates nursing home will recommence on Tuesday 12th March and will include sessions with Pedro the music man and also meeting Dennis again who is now 103!

Parent Partnership:
We’re looking at the importance of reading books to children and this will be a continuous project throughout this term. Please can we ask for your contributions by emailing some photos of you reading to your children for us to use on our display. Please email these to: rachel.cross@hopefamilycentre.org.

We are very excited to share with you our first nearly new sale! This will be held on Saturday 2nd March 2019, 10am until 12pm. Tables are available for a small charge of £5 and the donation of a raffle prize. Oscar’s café will be selling some delicious refreshments including coffee, cakes and breakfast baps.
If you would like to book a table please contact reception on 01885488495 or info@hopefamilycentre.org.
This event has been organised in partnership with one of our Early Years parents Steph King and we can’t wait to see you all there!

Fundraising BINGO!
We will be holding a bingo on Friday 12th April at the Public Hall, Bromyard. Please pop the date in your diary and come and support a really fun evening! We would also be very grateful of any prize donations.

All fundraising events held by The HOPE Centre help the charity to raise money for local children and families, including the Early Years department.

Kind regards

Rachel Cross and Charlotte Hodges– Early Years Management

Welcome 2019!

January 25, 2019 By Aaron Willoughby

It’s been a busy start to the year. First, we’d like to thank everyone for their support and being part of the Hope Community. Here we’re going to give you a sneak peek ahead to some of the things going on. We have already welcomed lots of new children to the centre in our Early Years and Contact Centre and are happy to say that everyone is settling in very well.

We have our regular groups taking place run by the Children’s Centre team in Bromyard and Job Club is also back on the schedule. We are going to reintroduce the ICT SOS again so keep an eye out for the dates. Oscar’s Café has had a busy start to the year and our regular Top Up Tuesday is as popular as ever. We’ve got several new events and promotions planned and our Usborne Book event this week was really well attended.

We have a full and busy calendar of events planned which you can find on our website in the What’s On section. There are lots to highlight but in particular I’d like to mention the Bingo Night at Bromyard Public Hall on April 12th and the return of our Mother’s Day Raffle for a free Cream Tea.

Last year in the run up to Christmas we had to manage without a fully equipped Soft Play in Oscar’s Café due to our Early Years Nativity performances and the Christmas Fayre. Normal service has resumed and we’re glad to see families and children enjoying this facility that is unique to Bromyard. I am equally glad to say that the entire Café team is back together after a spate of illness. Thanks to Amy, Bonnie and Emma, our new bank staff, who helped us navigate the busy time with great enthusiasm.

This year we are planning several fundraisers and will invite you all to support us; details will appear on the website and on our social media platforms nearer the time. As a taster, our plans include a Mud run in the Autumn, a charity concert and in the summer and Netti, our café manager, will be reaching for the skies in her fundraising event. More on that later ….

If you haven’t been to the Centre before please come along and visit us. We have a lovely cafe on site that is open Monday – Friday until 3pm with access via lift for those who need it and on site parking. There are lots of lovely facilities and groups that might be of interest. We regularly update our Twitter feed and Facebook and website pages so you can keep up to date with all our offers and events.

Well, that’s all for now – we hope to see you soon!
