Cafcass award
We are delighted to announce that we have been successful in the tender process to provide a commissioned service on behalf of Cafcass offering Contact Centre Interventions. The Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (CAFCASS) is a non-departmental public body in England set up to promote the welfare of children and families involved in family court. It was formed in April 2001 under the provisions of the Criminal Justice and Court Services Act 2000 and is accountable to Parliament through the Ministry of Justice. Cafcass is independent of the courts, social services, education, health authorities and all similar agencies.
Bingo fundraiser success
On Monday 18th June we held a Bingo night at Bishops Frome Village Hall. We would like to thank everyone who was there and a big thanks to Wendy Roberts and the team that work with her who were amazing. We all had a great evening and enjoyed ourselves immensely. It was great to meet local residents and have an opportunity to tell people about what we do at the Centre.
We had amazing prizes and are really grateful to all those who donated them, including Bromyard Tyres; Hair by Rebecca; Myrtle’s Kitchen; Tyrrell’s Crisps and lots of others – too numerous to mention! – who gave so kindly. There was a really wide range of prizes from sports massage to bottles of fizz to toys for children and much more.
We raised over £400 on the night which will go to our project of the redesign of the outdoors play areas for children and families. Thanks to all those who played Bingo and also to the cake auction with the cakes baked by Hope staff. A really great night!
The totally Local Charity Shop Bromyard donation
On Tuesday 12th June, Sarah Eardley and Heidi Mulholland went along to The totally Local Charity Shop on behalf of the Hope Family Centre to receive a cheque for £700. It was a lovely morning and a great opportunity to meet up with other local charities as it is always nice to update one another about initiatives and changes. It was lovely to see the Mayor and Mayoress and we were also glad to meet Edgar and Tom from the Royal British Legion. They visited us later in the morning with Janet Brodie-Murphy for a meeting up at the Centre. We were also really pleased to hear Monika give her speech and highlight the strong sense of community and wonderful people locally who support the shop and the charities. We completely agree! Heidi chatted with Cathy from Bromyard Community Transport (pic enclosed) about the help and support that families have received. Betty, the volunteer from Hope who works in the shop was there and we are delighted she is coming up for lunch at Oscar’s café next week to have lunch!
Our warmest thanks go to everyone involved and particularly those who use the shop and through their purchases help us and the other charities – a big thank you!
