Sunshine Radio’s Toy Appeal 2018

November 29, 2018 By Aaron Willoughby

Can you help raise a smile for some of Herefordshire’s, Monmouthshire’s, Shropshire’s and Worcestershire’s most vulnerable and poorly children?

Last year people, generously donated thousands of toys for Sunshine Radio’s Christmas Toy Appeal.

This year we’d like to ask you to do the same again and we at the Hope Centre will be a donation point as well as receiving some of the toys donated in this year’s appeal.

We’re asking you to buy just one toy and drop it off at one of the many collection points situated across the counties. (For a list of more donation points please click here to see Sunshine Radio’s webpage)

You’ll help under-privileged children across the Sunshine area and we’re supporting a number of charities including The Hope Centre.

A few pointers when buying your gift:

  • Please ensure that your gift is a brand new toy, complete with relevant European safety marks
  • Any toy suitable for 0-18 years – No clothing please
  • The present must not be wrapped.
  • Help a child smile this Christmas with the Sunshine Radio Toy Appeal 2018

No age limits on fun…

November 23, 2018 By Aaron Willoughby

In the Hope Centre’s Early Years Department we have our own version of the TV show ‘Old peoples home for 4 year olds’ (except it’s more three year olds). This amazing project is a collaboration set up by Pam Guiver and Rachel Cross where the children of Early Years get to visit Whitegates Residential Home.

We would like to thank Pedro the Music-man for organising the musical instruments and music activities that the children and residents got to participate in together this visit.

This has been another enjoyable part of our project ‘Being part of community life’ for both the children and residents.

Long may it continue.

Free hot drink top up!

November 20, 2018 By Sarah Eardley

Today we are offering all our customers at Oscar’s Café a free top up of their hot drink – our latest promotion called Top up Tuesday!  Netti and their team would like to thank all their customers for their custom and support by offering a free top up with your hot drink.  The café has seen lots of new faces recently too and we are really pleased that more and more people are getting to know about the Café thanks to our promotions and activities.

Our free soft play area is also very popular and recently we have started a new offer of Craft Café events.  Last week we welcomed Glazydays from Ledbury to the Centre who ran a pottery workshop upstairs in Oscar’s.  After the success of the recent poppy making, Oscar’s will run regular craft events upstairs where children and families can relax together doing something creative.  Everyone welcome and please check out our twitter and facebook pages for details.

Next week the café will be used for our Christmas Fayre and will be serving some light Christmassy refreshments for those visiting.  We look forward to seeing you there!  29th November 6pm with the official opening by the Mayor and Mayoress of Bromyard.

All donations from Early Years parents/carers and staff were gratefully received.

It’s been fabulous supporting a good cause at this time of year.

Children on the trail of the Gruffalo…

November 19, 2018 By Aaron Willoughby

We have taken the children on an outing as part of our ‘Being part of community life’.

They have had so much fun following the signs and clues on the Gruffalo trail at Queens Wood Park.

They’ve listened to the story in Preschool and the Caterpillar room and now they’ve met him and all his friends.

We’ve also talked about the trees and the leaves changing colour in the Autumn season.

We could not have gone without the wonderful Community Transport, who are such an important part of the community of Bromyard, we need to say a big thank you to them too.
