The totally Local Charity Shop Bromyard donation

June 13, 2018 By Sarah Eardley

On Tuesday 12th June, Sarah Eardley and Heidi Mulholland went along to The totally Local Charity Shop on behalf of the Hope Family Centre to receive a cheque for £700. It was a lovely morning and a great opportunity to meet up with other local charities as it is always nice to update one another about initiatives and changes.  It was lovely to see the Mayor and Mayoress and we were also glad to meet Edgar and Tom  from the Royal British Legion.  They visited us later in the morning with Janet Brodie-Murphy for a meeting up at the Centre.  We were also really pleased to hear Monika give her speech and highlight the strong sense of community and wonderful people locally who support the shop and the charities.  We completely agree!  Heidi chatted with Cathy from Bromyard Community Transport (pic enclosed) about the help and support that families have received.  Betty, the volunteer from Hope who works in the shop was there and we are delighted she is coming up for lunch at Oscar’s café next week to have lunch!

Our warmest thanks go to everyone involved and particularly those who use the shop and through their purchases help us and the other charities  – a big thank you!

MARATHON FUNDRAISER SUCCESS!

May 18, 2018 By Sarah Eardley

Last Sunday Sage Pearce-Higgins ran the RUN Hereford Marathon on behalf of the Hope Family Centre.  As last year’s winner, the pressure was on and we are all delighted that once again he won the race finishing in a magnificent 2h 49m – 3 minutes faster than last year!  His efforts and the fantastic support from those who donated meant we raised nearly £1400 in total.  On behalf of us all a HUGE THANKS!

Here’s what Sage said:

“It was real joy to run through the Herefordshire countryside on Sunday. We ran past green fields in the bright sunshine and locals came out to cheer us on. I finished the marathon in just under 2 hours 49 minutes, winning the race and setting a new course record. I’m really glad that I could raise money for the HOPE Centre; thank you to everyone for donating. Please be sure to visit the HOPE Centre cafe next time you’re in Bromyard (and come and run the marathon, half marathon or 10k in Hereford next year!).”

A huge THANK YOU from all at the Hope Centre

May 17, 2018 By Aaron Willoughby

Today (Thursday 17th May 2018) we held a fire evacuation drill. These essential drills are carried out to ensure all staff, volunteers, children from Early Years and members of the public who use the Centre are practised and prepared in evacuating the Centre in good time.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everybody onsite today for allowing the fire drill to run smoothly and successfully.  We evacuated the whole premises in 2.5 minutes which is a great time. We would also like to apologise to anyone who was inconvenienced and to the 12 Mums and young babies attending Bumps & Babies session today.  We had 40 children in our Early Years department all of whom behaved impeccably.  We thank you all for your cooperation.

Having regular drills can be quite disruptive to the site, which we do appreciate but they are so important. It allows us to time the evacuations, but it can also highlight any potential places where we need to improve, whether this be communication and signage, or advising our visitors more frequently of the fire evacuation procedure.

If anyone has any comments or suggestions regarding the drill today please contact the centre on 01885 488495 or email  info@hopefamilycentre.org
